Labelling

Labelling requirements are laid down in the Australia Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) Radiocommunications Labelling (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Notice 2008 and the New Zealand Ministry
of Economic Development (MED) Radiocommunications (Compliance) Notice 2004.

Summary:

Form of Marking:

Equipment so required must be marked with the C-Tick logo and compliance information / supplier identification.  There are eight forms of supplier identification acceptable in Australia and five in New Zealand, with the common form being the Supplier Code Number (SCN).

The C-Tick logo is available from both the ACMA and MED websites, however Braco Compliance will supply artwork that combines the C‑Tick logo and SCN.

Size of Marking:

The C-Tick logo shall be marked no less than 3 mm in height and the SCN shall be legible and marked no less than 1 mm in height.

Placement:

The compliance marking shall be placed on the external surface of the equipment as near as possible to the equipment identification marking.

It is permitted to additionally place compliance marking in documentation and promotional material.

Durability:

The compliance marking must be durable and applied permanently or in a manner that makes removal or obliteration difficult.

The ACMA and MED Notices do not define a test method for determining durability of marking.  Compliance marking applied identically to the rating marking, for which there exists applicable electrical safety standard’s durability test methods, is a recommended method of meeting the Notice’s durability requirements.
